Tiny bit of history…
Though her time with us was brief, her impact will echo forever. She was a light. She was radiant, kind, and full of dreams. Whether it was her laughter, that seemed to always come from her belly, or just her beautiful and sometimes (very) “cheesy” smile, being around Addy made everyone feel seen, comfortable, happy. She gave her love without reservation, without judgement or prejudice. Maybe more importantly, she taught those around her (without using any words), how to treat people with the same compassion, unlearned understanding and empathy. She had a spark — a curiosity about the world, a passion for the things she loved, and a future full of potential. Her spirit was one that could never be dimmed even throughout the more difficult days. Days that were ultimately cut way too short. Addy was eventually diagnosed with an incredibly rare mutation of the UBTF gene which led to uncurable degenerative brain disease. Addy was taken from us in May 2025, just short of her 17th birthday.
Intentions of project “SPREADING SUNSHINE”…
Addy could change your attitude, or mood with the simplest of things like an eye roll, a giggle, or a laugh. Losing her feels, well, it feels like something no words here could ever come close to describing. There’s a constant ache in the absence, but also some urge and push to do something more than just morn our loss. We (Addy’s family) decided to carry on her tradition of doing “small things” to bring even a little joy to someone’s day. It is a way for us to honor her, and to recreate a tiny portion of the all the joy she gave us. It is a way for us to actively remember Addy, and continue to feel near to her.
Thank you Addy!
Addy lives on in every person she touched — in shared stories, in whispered prayers, and in the quiet strength we find as we carry her legacy forward. She reminds us to live with love, to cherish each moment, and to never take the people we care about for granted. To the girl whose light (sunshine) will never fade — we love you. We miss you and will carry you in our hearts always. Thank you for teaching us how to be more open and willingly share our love and care with those around us…even complete strangers...
